Kendal

Kendal Smith

Montessori Assistant

Kendal has worn many hats throughout her life. It started with a cowboy hat, growing up on a family cattle ranch in Eastern Colorado. As soon as possible, her 'hat' became a set of adventure helmets. She has always been passionate about teaching others through experiential education, valuing the power of merriment, and seeking opportunities to empower connections with people and places. She's dedicated her life to the programs she believes will better our world, small pieces at a time. Her experience spans diverse age groups, abilities, and types of educational programs.  This includes years as an Outward Bound instructor, a training coordinator and assistant director for adaptive ski programs, part of the leadership team at the Norwood library, work at a school in Paraguay, and a Preschool teacher in an English immersion language school in China.  She holds a Master's in Nonprofit Administration from Louisiana State University and a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from University of the Pacific.

She currently lives in Norwood with her husband, daughter, two cats, and rescue dog. Kendal loves a good hold when you least expect it, following the bubble line around a river bend into the unknown, the magic of an overnight flight arriving somewhere else in the world, and finding the perfect single track for a ride with her daughter and hubby looking for the best "whoopty-doos."
