Having been in the coffee importing field for more than a quarter century, Bert started The Serengeti Trading Company in 2000, and has been the head trader and sole owner ever since. Prior to that, he attended Bucknell University, graduating with a Business Degree in 1988.
Bert moved with his family to Telluride full time in August 2010, having found that unique combination of wholesome small town and mountain living. He’s been married to his wife Christine for over 20 years, and they love raising their two children in this beautiful setting. Both children attend and thrive at TMS.
After family and work obligations, Bert has also long been the President of “The Serengeti Foundation”, a 501C3 non profit organization, dedicated to the conservation of land and the protection of the earth’s animals. The Serengeti Foundation has for years been an active supporter of the planet’s elephant causes, manages several land conservation efforts, and more recently has started a Wild Mustang Sanctuary here in SW Colorado. In any remaining spare minutes, you can find Bert skiing, playing baseball, or hiking with his four dogs.
