Planned Giving

If you are considering a gift to Telluride Mountain School you may want to consider making the gift through your will. Often, the simplest way to do this is through a bequest. General bequests, which direct a set amount of money be paid to a particular beneficiary, are the most common. A specific bequest directs that a particular asset or piece of property be awarded to a beneficiary. A residuary bequest directs that a beneficiary receive everything remaining in your estate after payment of taxes, debts, settlement costs, and general and specific bequests. Each type of bequest can be unrestricted or restricted to benefit a specific department, scholarship, or program.

A donor may make a gift to TMS and receive direct tax and financial benefits. The benefits may include an immediate charitable-income tax deduction, or increased income for life for the donor and/or the donor’s spouse compared to existing investments, in addition to leaving a legacy that will impact lives positively in your name.

Types of Planned Gifts Include: Bequests, Life Insurance, Retirement Plans, Securities, Gifts in Remembrance, Life Income Gifts, Gifts that Give Back to You, Real Estate, Charitable Remainder Trust, Deferred Gift Annuity, and Charitable Lead Trust.

You can use any of these basic types of bequests to benefit Telluride Mountain School. There are wonderful opportunities available to benefit an area or endeavor in which you are particularly interested. The Advancement staff will be happy to discuss the many opportunities available to make a personally satisfying bequest.
